Tim Hucks
Tim Hucks has been helping investors protect their assets and invest wisely for more than 40 years. He has advised hundreds of individuals in North Carolina and beyond – professors, professionals, business people and families.
A university retirement specialist, Tim holds the designation of Certified Estate PlannerTM. He is President of Rising Tide, Inc., an affiliate with Capital Investment Advisory Services, LLC a Registered Investment Advisory Firm and has a Registered Principal license with Capital Investment Group, Inc.
He has authored many financial articles for local newspapers and has appeared on local television. He has led financial seminars and workshops on the local, state and regional levels.
Tim grew up in High Point, N.C., running varsity track for Andrews High. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he met Patti in graduate school.
Married over 44 years, they have three grown children with undergraduate and graduate degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro and the University of Michigan. Tim has been a volunteer and regional leader with Kiwanis International since 1990. He enjoys gardening and golf.
Tim is actively involved with three local non-profits. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Tim has been a volunteer and regional leader in Kiwanis since 1990. He is Treasurer for the Hillsborough Kiwanis Club; he served as its President in 1997-98; and he served as Lieutenant Governor for Carolinas District of Kiwanis International for three terms – 1998-99, 2005-06 and 2011-12.
Tim is very active with “Terrific Kids,” a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance.

Volunteers for Youth has provided services in Orange County since 1981, helping at-risk youth become contributing members of the community by cultivating strengths, encouraging positive relationships, and developing the ability to make responsible choices.
As a member of the Board of Directors since 2009, he actively supports important mentoring, community service and teen court programs. He chairs the annual Larry Fedora Golf Tournament.

Open Table Ministry seeks to provide a faithful response to homelessness in our community and to improve the quality of life for homeless persons by building relationships, meeting practical needs, and connecting with existing resources. It strives to foster a community where everyone is valued and all people’s spiritual, physical and emotional needs are met.
Volunteers provide critical assistance, specialized support and radical friendships. Tim serves as Vice President on its Board of Directors.

Mike Brennan Jr.
Mike joined Capital Investment Advisory Services, LLC, in January 2023 teaming up with Tim Hucks and Terry Bass who have over 70 years of combined industry experience working to help investors protect their assets and invest wisely. While Mike is new to Capital Investment, he has been in the industry since 2008 getting his start in NYC on Capital Markets desks helping to raise capital for companies through IPO’s and secondary offers. Mike then moved to the mutual fund side of the business, introducing and informing advisors of different changes and updates to various mutual funds. Originally working as an internal rep, Mike was relocated to Raleigh to become the Regional Director for Nexpoint an alternative and real estate focused fund company where he met and worked with Tim and Terry.
Mike moved down to Raleigh in 2018 where he met his wife, Liz, and were married in 2020 Together they have two young boys, Tripp (2) and Wes (1). Mike is an active member of the Raleigh Rotary Club and enjoys golf, the outdoors, snowboarding and going to the beach with the family.
Mike is an active member of the Rotary Club of Raleigh starting in 2023. R. Terry Bass
Terry has been an independent financial planner since 1985, advising families, individuals, small business owners, charitable foundations and various trusts. He has built a career based upon listening to the client’s needs and goals and developing personalized strategies to grow and protect investment assets. Developing a relationship with the client and those associated with the client’s financial and legal affairs has been an essential part of his practice. Clients with retirement and estate planning needs have developed into a major portion of his client base.
As a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Capital Investment Brokerage, Inc., Terry has consistently been named to the firms Presidents Council and has been recognized as one of the firm’s Top Ten Producers.
The professional designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER was attained in 1994. His financial planning skills have been shared through service to the North Carolina 4-H Development Fund, the Campbell University School of Pharmacy Development Board, Teen Valley Ranch Christian Youth Camp, and Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. Contributing to the community through the Lions Club, educational foundations, area development groups and athletic associations has been a priority.
Terry grew up on a tobacco farm in Wilson County, NC. He earned a Bachelor of Science degrees in agriculture economics and animal science from North Carolina State University in 1980. His wife, Sandra, is a Registered Nurse and instructor at Central Carolina Community College. Their three children, Kayla, Jenna and Aaron have all received Bachelor of Science degrees and are pursuing post graduate studies and professional careers. The Bass Family resides in Harnett County, NC and supports their church community, enjoys horses, sporting events and travel.
Terry played a vital role in the establishment of Capital Community Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that provides for the establishment and management of donor directed funds.
